A call on pre-proposals of instruments to be hosted in one of the long beamlines opens on 19 September 2022 to gather ideas in form of short documents containing the important information on proposed instruments. These pre-proposals can be optionally presented as drafts during the one-day workshop on 14 November, to exchange information within the community and receive feedback. The workshop will include experts and members from the ALBA Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). The call will be closed before Christmas, on 16 December 2022.
The teams which presented long beamlines pre-proposals in the 2021 call for instruments are kindly invited to consider presenting again their projects, in view of the more detailed information which is now available.
The pre-proposals will be reviewed by the Instrument Review Panel (IRP), a panel of national and international experts. The IRP will, by the end of January 2023, set up a shortlist of those pre-proposals (or combination of pre-proposals) for which a full proposal is expected.
The corresponding teams will be invited to prepare the proposal, to be presented by 15 April 2023.
Each proposal will be reviewed by a 2-3 people team of experts, and presented to ALBA SAC and IRP by end of May.
The SAC will finally provide the recommendation on the list of prioritized instruments to be considered for the construction of next generation ALBA II Beamlines.
