The conference hands-on tutorials will be organized in the morning of Monday October 6th. These will take place at the site of the ALBA Synchrotron, in Cerdanyola del Valles, near Barcelona (Spain).
A welcome brief session and visit to the ALBA experimental hall and x-ray beamlines will also be on the program of this separate half-day session at ALBA Synchrotron site.
Main Conference site: Almadraba Beach, Roses, Girona
The main conference location is in the scenic coastal town of Roses (Girona), in the north of Catalonia near the border to France. Roses is one of the towns of the Costa Brava (Mediterraneum Sea coast). It is at 50min drive from Girona Airport, 1h45min drive from Barcelona /Barcelona Airport, and 40min drive from Perpignan Airport. It is also reachable within a 30min drive from Figueras or 50min drive from Girona AVE train stations.
The main conference will take place at the the meeting room of the Hotel Almadraba Park in Rosas (Girona), in a conference room for up to 70 people. The lectures, coffee breaks and poster sessions will also take place at this hotel facilities.
Almadraba Hotel and Almadraba beach are located at 5km from Roses downtown.
Reaching the main conference location:
- Free bus from ALBA Synchrotron to conference location, return bus
To facilitate reaching the venue, a bus with space for up to 70 people will depart from ALBA Synchrotron on the afternoon of Monday 6th, right after lunch at ALBA. Please check the schedule and reserve your bus free spot on the registration if you intend to use the bus service. Places at the bus will be assigned on a first come first served basis, so if you intend to use this service it is a good idea to register and secure your spot early.
Similarly, we are considering the possibility to offer a free bus return service on Friday early afternoon if sufficient people indicate to be using it. Please confirm your interest and reserve your eventual place in the bus at registration time if you are interested in this return bus service. More information will be given during the conference.
- Alternatives for transportation
-A bus line services Barcelona-Roses approximately once per day (mon-fri 17h45 departure, arriving 20h, and sat-sun departures at 12h and 20h45 ) from Barcelona Estació Nord to Roses. (). The same bus service is available from Barcelona Airport T1 or T2 on Saturadays and Sundays, cost 28euros one way. Tickets can be bought several months in advance in the Moventis website and we recommend to reserve if this is going to be used.
- Public Train transportation, including fast direct AVE trains link Barcelona or Girona to Figueras city. Once at Figueras, a direct bus services Figueras-Roses several times per day, on a daily basis.
- Car rental is also a perfect way to reach the conference location. It will also give you a lot of flexibility to stay at lower cost hotels in down town Roses, or explore the are for dinner, personal leisure activities. Car rental servicies are readily is available at Barcelona airport, Girona airport and many other arrrival cities such as Barcelona, Girona, Figueres or Perpignan down town.
