Abstract
After a brief overview of BASF SE and its R&D activities, this presentation will highlight the use of analytical techniques in industry with a focus on the research activities on battery materials for rechargeable Li-ion batteries. The use of in-house analytics will be compared to the possibilities offered by large scale instruments and synchrotrons in particular. Finally, some recent examples of fundamental investigations related to BASF cathode materials carried out at synchrotron facilities, including ALBA, will be discussed.
